Data Management

A GIS without data is worthless. That is why careful and well-structured data acquisition is essential. We use file based solutions as well as Geodatabases.
Data acquisition / digitizing
Older spatial data sets are often only available as analog maps. With a digitizing tablet, this information can be transferred to vector data for use in GIS. High quality originals can also be scanned and then converted.
Besides the spatial information (coordinates), object attributes are essential for data use and analysis. This data is managed in relational databases. In connection with ArcSDE, the spatial data as well as the attributes are the basis for further tasks.
Data from other GIS systems or CADs may be imported smoothly through converters.
Data management
For GIS data management, we usually utilize ArcSDE®, storing the data in a Geodatabase.
Data models are important for describing and documenting data structures. In connecation with the new GeoIG, data modeling has been legally regulated in Switzerland. We are specialized in modeling of environmental data.
